Original character and VTuber dakimakura commission workspace

What Happens to the Artwork You Upload for a Dakimakura?

By DakiCustomize Production Team Last updated

Start with the stated use of the image

The store FAQ is the starting point for the current artwork-use statement. The custom dakimakura product page describes the order itself. File use is separate from an artist's permission to print the work and separate again from how an order is packaged.

For an unreleased original character or a commission you don't want shown publicly, make that concern explicit before sending files. Don't assume a printer has agreed to an embargo, a nondisclosure agreement or a particular release date unless that has actually been confirmed.

Ask specific questions if privacy affects the project

“I need this kept private” can mean several things. Explain which matters to you:

  • May the finished cover or artwork appear in marketing?
  • How long are production files retained?
  • Who needs access to fulfill the order?
  • How can you request deletion, and what limits apply?
  • Are there requirements connected with an artist's release date?

Don't assume production files are deleted automatically after a fixed number of days. Confirm any required retention period or deletion arrangement before uploading, especially if it is part of an artist's agreement or a release plan.

For personal-data handling and privacy requests, read the privacy policy. It describes service-provider processing and retention depending on the purpose and applicable obligations; it is not a promise that every artwork file is deleted immediately after dispatch.

Share the artwork without exposing unrelated files

Use a folder containing only the intended exports if you provide a file-sharing link. Check what the recipient can see, and avoid including private chats, payment details or identity documents in an artwork folder.

Keep your own original and a record of the version submitted. If the file needs to change, contact the seller; don't assume removing a cloud link also deletes a copy already received for production.

The ordering guide covers the order workflow. Any privacy condition that changes how you can submit a file should be resolved first.
